Editorial Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains how HW Media Management prepares and maintains the guides you read here. It covers where topics come from, how information is checked, and what happens when something needs correcting.

Choose topics readers need

Every guide starts with a question people ask about social media marketing or digital marketing. The editorial team tracks what readers search for, what lands in the inbox at [email protected], and which areas of the subject are changing quickly enough to need fresh explanation.

A topic makes it onto the list when it solves a real problem or fills a gap in what someone responsible for a brand's digital presence needs to know. Abstract theory and vendor-specific tutorials are left out.

Research from recognised sources

Facts in a guide come from public reference works such as encyclopaedias, sites run by official bodies, and organisations recognised in the field of digital marketing. Where a claim can be checked against more than one source, it is.

At the end of each article you will find a short list of sources used during research, for further reading. These are not academic citations—they are there so you can check the same material yourself if you want to dig deeper.

Write plainly and test nothing

Guides are written in plain language. Specialist terms appear when they are the right word for the job, explained in straightforward English the first time they are used. No jargon is left hanging.

Exaggeration and promises of results are cut. A technique that worked for one brand may not work for yours, and the guide says so rather than overselling the method. The goal is to help you make an informed choice, not to guarantee an outcome nobody can guarantee.

No paid placement or sponsorship

Nothing on this site is paid for by a third party. No brand, tool or platform pays to be mentioned, ranked or recommended. The editorial team decides what is published, and that decision is not for sale.

You are not sold anything here. The portal exists to explain social media marketing and digital marketing, and readers come to it for information they can act on without being pitched to.

Update when things change and correct fast

Guides are reviewed when the subject they cover shifts—when a platform changes how its algorithm works, when a widely used tool is retired, or when new regulation affects what marketers in the UK must do. Updates happen without announcement, and the guide continues to reflect current practice.

If you spot an error—a broken link, an outdated detail, a claim that no longer holds—write to [email protected] with the page address and what needs fixing. Corrections are made without delay, and you will hear back within two working days to confirm the change.

Suggest a topic

The same inbox takes topic ideas. If there is an area of social media marketing or digital marketing you think the portal should cover and does not yet, send a short note explaining what you would use the guide for. Not every suggestion becomes an article, but every one is read and considered.
